WW2 Japanese Weapons

The Arisaka Type 38 Rifle

The Arisaka Type 38 bolt action rifle was the pre-war standard infantry weapon of the Japanese. it was rather long and the longest among its contemporaries. With a 400mm type 30 bayonet attached, it becomes much longer and unwieldy.

The Arisaka Type 99 Rifle
The Arisaka Type 99 bolt action was an upgrade fo the Type 38 with a 7.700mm compared to the 6.500mm of the Type 38. The Type 99 soon became the standard rifle of the Japanese Infantry well untill the end of the war. The older Type 38, however, continued to be in production also until the end of the war.

Type 100 Submachinegun

The Type 100 Submachinegun   entered into service in 1942. This weapon was unremarkable, being underpowered compared to its contemporaries. It has a muzzle velocity of only 335m/s. However, the Japanese Army used them well into the end of the war.

Type 11 was the first light machine gun that Japan has produced. The charactaristic of Type 11 was that it used the ammo clip of Type 38 rifle for its ammunition. The magazine of Type 11 contained 6 clips of Type 38 Rifle. However, this loading mechanism was so complicated that it caused lots of trouble in action.
